About object:

A unique structure characterized by a high architectural quality is the sign of a certain respect for the rich natural environment. Such is a building of Meteliai Information Centre with the School of Nature built in Meteliai Regional Park, on the bank of the Lake Dusia called the sea of Dzukija.

At school, students are introduced not only to natural resources, its flora and fauna, but also familiarize with the local ethnography: Dzukian and Yotvingian history. The contact between nature and culture is perfectly embodied by the volume composition of the building of the Information Centre and the School of Nature created by the architects G. Natkevicius and R. Adomaitis, which are born from two architecture poles: the traditional and the modern architecture interpretations.

Modern and elegant with glass walls and superposed roof the volume is “hanging” at the second floor on thin black-painted columns. It seems to be easily chased into the nearby volume – almost blind, covered with chips – which is crown by a span roof. All the life of the Centre is concentrated in a “natural observatory” – a common area framed by glass walls, where classes and experiment exhibitions take place. But the main focus is the very nature.

A great mastery is needed to say so much by such a small.
