Building of Vilnius Bank Branch in Siauliai City

An idea of the Bank’s image is democratic atmosphere: there, monetary transactions are fast and transparent, and communication with customers is simple and honest. These are the principles, according to which the building of simple design, clear forms and interesting spaces is projected.

It stands at a historically formed market square of the city, which eventually became the city’s representative square having lost its clear boundaries during the post-war period. An aspiration to return to historical sources led to clear volume of the building, framing the perimeter of the street and the square.

On the other hand, the architects avoided dully blind façade wall planes, and created more interesting relationship of the building’s internal spaces with the surrounding spaces of street, square and courtyard. The building consists of two blocks, at a junction corner of which is the main entrance with a hall – an atrium and a vertical of stairs and lift. The common open spaces situated on the lower floors of the Bank’s building are exposed as openly as possible and integrated into the surrounding urban spaces, and the private spaces of the building are relatively isolated from the outside. The sophisticated play of the spaces is created of blind concrete wall planes covered with ceramic tiles, and planes of tinted glass; the clear glass was used as well, where intertwining of spaces was required.
