A villa Jura. Smelis. Vejas in Juodkrante created by a tandem of architects G. and A. Prikockiai together with I. Tikuisyte and A.Velucis is an event in the sky of Lithuanian recreational architecture.
In the process of designing, two things were important for the project authors: firstly, they needed to project a comfortable house for living and resting, and on the other hand, they were highly obliged by its place – northern territory of the small town, in which historic villas of 19th and 20th century were standing. This induced the architects to create more luxurious building. From the first sight, the villa Jura. Smelis. Vejas is not perceived as a unit – it consists of three buildings connected by a common area of the first floor. As befits to the object of this type, cosy terraces are fitted almost on all sides throughout all three floors.
The volumes corresponding to the character of historic villas with mansard floors and plane roofs and the colouring typical of the coastal architecture: bluish, yellowish, white colours with redness create a fresh image of the complex. The villa gets especially great deal of charm of the original carvings created by the artist M. Jonutis – the interpretations of tracery carvings of old wooden villas. It is hardly surprising that for this villa the authors won an Award of the architect A. Zavisa, which is granted for the best object of the recreational architecture of a year.
