Complex of commercial and administrative buildings

For Ukmerge Street becoming an attractive business artery of the capital city, there are more of those willing to build office or commercial buildings here. A two building complex built in Zamenhofas Street in Fabijoniskes district “took control” over the whole plot, and became a powerful dominant for its elegant form.
According to the authors of the project, an elongated plot plan form as a wedge and chaotic urban surroundings dictated the structure of the complex of two buildings standing at different ends of the plot. The authors create the links between both buildings by the antithesis: one of the volumes – a shopping center – is horizontal; the other – office building – is vertical. This gave the dynamism for the duo.
From the architectural side, they are connected by using the same composite measures: under the private exterior „shell“ enveloping the buildings different interior functions are being set; they break out outside by dark tinted, glossy glass wall masses. Clearly articulated architectural language and very bright facade finishing contrast with surroundings, and distinguish the complex from monotonous, massive, and grey surroundings of the apartment buildings. They become a local dominant worthily.
