Low-rise apartment building
Architects:
Artūras Asauskas, Goda RumbutienėAbout object:
A bit unusual apartment building in our latitudes by its exterior reminding of sunny Spain. Architects A. Asauskas and G. Rumbutienė were inspired by the image of a white house in a green meadow.
A two-story apartment building with an attic and underground parking lot has 15 apartments. The modeling from three different volumes visually “distracted” by staircases or indentations as well as the slopes of the roof raised to the sky as if the wings spread give the elegance for the building that looks more like a cottage than an apartment building. The impression is intensified by the curved side facades. Interesting architect‘s decision to design a wider second floor makes the apartment building exceptional; thus its volumes come out from the plane of the facade and are perceived as bay windows. The latter are used rationally: terraces overlooking the city panorama are installed on the roofs of bay windows.
The building is well incorporated into the surroundings of the plot, enriches it with its sculptural form. According to the artist himself, “the architectural expression of the building is sensitively laconic to the surroundings.”
