About object:

Travelling people see a bus station as a gateway to a new city — meeting and seeing the newcomers off, this building becomes an important part of the city’s image. Everyone wants public buildings to be functional and modern, particularly speaking about resorts, which see large flows of tourists.
Designing the new bus station of Palanga involved solving the major issue related to the location of the building. Historically the station was established in the city centre and a very convenient location for pedestrians. However, constant noise of the vehicles and air pollution during the season caused discomfort for the people living or enjoying their holiday in that part of the city. Thus, transferring the station to a new location a bit further from the city centre, was reasonable and logic.
The new building of the station meets the guests of Palanga coming on the old Klaipėdos highroad and is adjacent to the petrol station on the intersection between Kretingos street and Klaipėda highroad. The premises of the station and the shopping centre are established in two rectangular tightly connected volumes. The modest one-storey area of the station has a waiting hall, administration offices, ticket offices and sanitary premises. The bus platform is framed by a horizontal plane, leaning against the station. The waiting hall will be connected to the shopping centre, taking the majority of the area of the building.
The main façade of the shopping centre will be decorated with metal “waves”, which will be particularly attractive when lighted at night. LED lighting focused along each of the waves will light them in changing colours. The platforms for waiting and getting off the bus will also be included into the general play of lights. The “pulsing” lights in volumes of simple shapes will create a psychological effect appropriate for a bus station, encoding constant movement and changes.
