About object:

Two regular cube-shaped blocks of flats standing in the hollow at the crossroads of Zveju and Vytautas streets represent a new generation of apartment house architecture. Their architectonics is articulated by the modest means: pure geometric volumes and subtle decoration, reminding the architecture of seaside resort by both colours and materials (wood siding).
The colour figuration of these “twins” also adds playfulness to the buildings: following an idea of the architect, one of them is finished with panelling of four blue-grey shades, and the other – with wood planks and plywood of pale tonality. Both cubes are visually connected by the “exchange” of accents of the dominant colours: the window frames of the bluish cube are painted with daffodil yellow, and of the yellowish one – with bluish.
Each of them contains three apartments. There are some exceptions in the planning: in one house, there is one more spacious apartment on two floors (ground and first floor), and on the basement floor of the other one, there is an office space. It is also convenient that the planning of all the apartments can be changed depending on the 7.2 meter ceiling step.
Till now, the apartment houses-cubes designed by D. Rakauskas remain intriguing and endearing by their moderate architecture language and suggestive aesthetics.
