Style Factory
Architects:
Dalius Nainys, Simonas GriciusAbout object:
The very name of the structure encodes its architecture: modernism balancing at the limit of brutality has “blown” some freshness to Zverynas and properly supplemented a collection of several other pearls of modernism in Zverynas.
Architects D. Nainys and S. Gricius chose a language of pure building materials, they did not decorate it, but supplemented with a dashing articulation: the oblique planes of windows visible in the pecked holes of façades created an extremely dynamic picture of the building.
The creators did not ignore the context: like the surrounding houses, the Style Factory formed a circumferential street build-up, and was made of similar height – only of three floors. Its L-shaped plan was folded along the intersection corner of the streets, and a superposed roof did not allow confusing, to which period the construction belonged.
The authors of the project followed by an unusual in Lithuania way of Japanese architectural traditions: they chose soft, clear forms, pure materials and allowed them “to speak” for themselves: the concrete surfaces, metal polish, slightly tinted or clear glass twang in proper notes and thrill all the space – both around and inside the building.
