Dwelling house in Panevezys
Architects:
Ramūnas Raslavičius, Eglė RaslavičienėAbout object:
This dwelling house is an excellent example of how architecture serves people. When designing the house, architects did not try to impress people, they just wanted to design esthetic housing that would be comfortable to live in.
This time, the source of inspiration was… nature. Because the spacious plot is near the park to which the authors focused, the location of the house was chosen in a way people would live not only closer to the nature, but also could enjoy the views every day. Thus, the building stands in a narrow western part of the plot that borders the park. The artists as if built the bridge to the lush flora: embedded a cozy courtyard-terrace with the decorative pool between the house and the fence leading to the park. You can enjoy the picturesque landscape here as much as you like.
The finishing of the facade of the two-story building also speaks about the closeness to the nature: they are finished with clinker masonry and plates. The volume of the building of laconic form is likely the result of its interior structure: all window openings are “made” in the right places, where there are rooms or spectacular views overlook.
Carefully planned surroundings become the final accord to this sonata. True beauty is in simplicity. This is true for architecture as well.
