Reconstruction of the half bridge with the springboard on the lake Zarasaitis

Zarasai, titled as the Lithuanian capital of lakes, is a town that never stops getting more and more beautiful in front of your eyes. Fun changes amaze both the residents and visitors. The epithet of a surprising one can be labelled to an open swimming pool with a springboard reconstructed on Zarasaitis lake in 2014. This implementation is the first phase of clearing works of the recreational area at Zarasaitis lake. When reconstructing this public space, the old concrete slab covering of the half bridge was replaced by wood deck boards. The waterfront has been equipped with new, multi-levelled terraces, pontoon boat duck and lighting.
The architects (A. Sasnauskas, V. Malenko, E. Rastauskas, G. Šegždavičius) from the design group “A2SM” have employed all options available for the creation of the modern public space. The silhouette of the Lithuanian forest, the sandy coastline and the man-made space gently clinging to the surface of the Zarasaitis lake with its straight, fine line. This line in this context is as if a boundary between the past and the future emerging as a part of a larger symbol – a rectangular encoding stability and sturdiness.
The rectangular composition of half bridges and terraces enclosed in the perimeter accommodates an open swimming pool lanes as if patronizing and protecting this area. In the vertical as though an allusion to the water waving this composition stirs up easily in contact with the waterfront. The springboard in this public place emerges as if a composed guardian especially showing off its silhouette in the night lighting.
