About object:

Due to the extremely rapid technological change taking place in the world, worn industrial buildings of the Soviet period do not adequately meet their primary function – they are often demolished so that new buildings could be built instead. The administrative-industrial building located in Vilnius, Graičiūno str. managed to escape such an outcome. As far as back in 2009 it was decided to reconstruct the building and adapt it for modern research and experimental activity needs of UAB “Fermentas“. During the reconstruction, the monumental Soviet architectural expression underwent fundamental change. Minimalistic, yet aptly matched palette of materials was applied to exterior, which enabled to develop image of a clear, modern and solid building. The main entrance has been moderately highlighted. Inside the building, stretching over several levels, a bright and warm hallway has been formed – this impression is reinforced by the use of light pastel colors in interior, glass handrails of the galleries surrounding the hall, and a lucidly transparent elevator. By “refreshing” the building, while maintaining its former character, the authors demonstrated the subtlety inherent to artists.
