Residential House “Dash”
Architects:
Gintautas Vieversys, Asta VieversienėAbout object:
The house “Dash” is as if dictated by the environment. The architectural conception of an individual residential house created by architects is plentiful of dualism. It is intervened between a town and nature, standing close to a street, but with wide open “eyes” to the river Šešupė. From the side of the street, it is visible as a low, single-storey house – similar to the majority of houses in its urban environment. The only difference is that it is blind, seems quasi a brick fence, between which and the superposed roof there is a narrow gap similar to an embrasure. One can make assumptions about closely guarded privacy, although, according to the project authors, this is just a wall between the noise and silence.
However, an absolutely different picture shows from the side of the river: here, we see a two-storey, glass-fronted building that is dug into a slope. Its functional areas are arranged conveniently: access to the house from the street, to be more precise, from the roof-covered parking lot, passes through a porch to a common area, where the most frequently used zones are arranged: a dining room with a kitchen and a living room, which opens to a spacious outdoor terrace. Only upon stepping down, you may get to the more private dominions, from where a path leads straight through a meadow toward the river.
The courteous being in town and the harmony with the nature make everyone to admire this delicate construction.
