About object:

Jonavos street in Kaunas is a lively street, located along the Neris River and occupied by industrial, trade and administrative objects. The fate of industrial buildings, constructed on the street during the Soviet era is different. The office building, belonging to the Pentacom company, was reconstructed in 2005.
The authors of the project G. Natkevicius, R. Adomaitis and M. Mickevicius managed to render a new and original expression to the object without eschewing the initial image of an industrial architecture building.
The Pentacom headquarters retained its initial image, characteristic of the industrial architecture. The characteristic construction materials – metal, glass and concrete, are used. The cold industrial façade appearance was retained, since it perfectly fits the entire context of the street. Truth be told, the interior planning changed according to the needs of an office building, rather than an industrial one. And the interior is also different there – it is light and transparent.
The authors of the reconstruction – the company G. Natkevicius ir Partneriai dedicated equal attention both to the building’s image during daytime and to how it would look when the sun goes down. For this reconstruction project the collective was awarded the “Best Reconstruction” diploma during the Kaunas contest exhibition “Project of the Year 2005”.
